Walmart President and Chief Executive Officer Doug McMillon started his career in a distribution center, and the Supply Chain Academies will equip DC associates to be leaders of the future too.ĭue to COVID-19, the Supply Chain Academy team will train associates virtually with the goal of transitioning to on-site classroom training.

All Academies have a dedicated staff who provide training to position associates to succeed in their current roles and provide a path for career growth with the company. Walmart Supply Chain Academies are patterned after the 200 Walmart Academies that train store associates across the U.S.

“Preparing associates for the future of work is perhaps as critical as it’s ever been, and I can’t wait to see the impact of the Supply Chain Academy team’s hard work.” “The retail landscape is going to keep evolving rapidly during and after the pandemic,” said Karisa Sprague, Senior Vice President of the Supply Chain People team. As the global pandemic continues, Walmart remains committed to investing in training associates to help them meet the needs of customers today. Supply chain associates play a critical role helping keep store shelves stocked with items customers need. The Winter Haven Supply Chain Academy is only the fourth of its kind nationwide.

To summarize this all, the job is great if you can suspend any brain function for 3-4 days a week, but if you cant, you'll contribute to the insane turnover rate.Today, the Walmart Distribution Center in Winter Haven celebrated the grand opening and first graduating class of the new Walmart Supply Chain Training Academy, created specifically to help distribution center associates build the skills they need to become the next generation of supply chain leaders. Management expects more than what is necessary, even if they continue to tell you otherwise. There is a reason why this job has the highest turnover rate in Walmart D.C.'s. Managers and coworkers will never appreciate your good work, but only tell you how you f'ed up. I underestimated how a silly number screwed with my psych so much. It is challenging to keep to this, and even though most including myself keep above it, it also causes you to feel and act horribly when you are not up to the goal. There are many ways in which you can fail to meet this and still keep your job, but there are also ways in which this system is not good (for me). If you can handle enough stress to kill an elephant, than congratulations, this may be your job! As a last example, there is a percentage that you are needing to keep to. Why are order fillers paid so much? Because from the moment you get up on a work day, you are expected to be closing in on perfection. The problem with this is that it is extremely overwhelming to constantly be under stress. Another example is how everybody (including coworkers) want you to do better and challenge/help you to do so. This small amount of your week is not to be underestimated though, because on off days, it is a struggle to do any physical activities. For example, you only have to work 3-4 days a week! Usually for 8 hours or less.

However, for every great experience or cool thing about the job Walmart tells you about, there is a massive downside to it all. To start off, really anybody physically can work here, no matter how terribly out of shape you think you are, or how old and beaten up you actually are! With that out of the way, the job really isn't that skilled and only takes a month or so to get used to (Mentally and Physically).
